President of Israel
And the Nobel Peace Prize
Shimon Peres

Receive my fraternal greetings of Peace and Good.

I send you this letter urgently, motivated by the decision of the Israel Government to deportate the African refugees and asylum seekers from Sudan and Eritrea from the Israeli territory.

The Interior Minister Eli Yisahai has set a deadline, the 15 October 2012, forcing refugees to sign a declaration to leave the country, otherwise adults, women and children will be imprisoned for a period of up to 15 years. This attitude violates the human rights of individuals and peoples, and the international conventions that requires to give asylum to those who suffer persecution and their lives are threatened by armed conflict.

The Interior Ministers threats promising to make a hellof the lives of refugees and refusing to wait the decision of the Supreme Court, represented a total lack of solidarity and respect for the International Conventions and the refugee Law.

Therefore, I turn to you as The President of the State of Israel, and Nobel Peace Prize, to ensure the safety of the life of the Sudanese and Eritrean refugees, give them all the support they need and to avoid what unfrotunately already is happening: death for typhus and malaria for lack of medical care in their original countries.

The Human Rights Organizations in Israel and also individuals are demanding respect for the life and dignity of those in need of support and humanitarian solidarity, and unfortunately The State of Israel is denying them.

We look forward with hope that our request will be heard , primarily in the mind and heart of the Israeli government. I reiterate my fraternal greetings, wishing you strength and hope.

Adolfo Pérez Esquivel
